Dave has spent the majority of his career in the oil refining industry involved with the Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) Process or related circulating fluid systems. He became involved in the FCC processes with UOP, Inc. in 1962. Dave moved to Engelhard Corporation in 1976 to help start their FCC catalyst and additives business, where he later obtained more than 20 U.S. patents. In 1989, he founded the DART Inc. of Texas to work in partnership with the Coastal Corporation to commercialize Dave's MilliSecond Catalytic Cracking and Discriminatory Destructive Distillation Processes, now licensed by UOP, LLC. Since 1989, Dave and DART have participated as a principal in a technology joint venture in Russia, obtaining 10 additional U.S. patents and providing consulting services. Dave and his wife Margaret reside in Watchung, New Jersey. Dave was inducted into the Academy in 1997.
