Sarah began her career in 1987 as a process engineer with Cargill and later, took a production supervisor’s position with Lever Brothers Company.  She progressed to laboratory supervisor where she managed the resources of the laboratory on a daily basis.  She served as the Chemical Hygiene Officer responsible for implementing the new OSHA Laboratory Standard.  In 1991, Sarah went to work for Mallinckrodt where she has held a variety of roles:  process engineering, Health, Safety and Environmental engineering, project management, facilities management, and capital management. She has assisted in the implementation of corporate projects in an FDA regulated facility; acted as a liaison between manufacturing and corporate engineering, as well as between manufacturing and regulatory agencies for special products, peptides, and then Research and Development and Quality Laboratories. She had responsibility for Mallinckrodt Raleigh, NC and Greenville, IL capital budgets. Sarah left Mallinckrodt in July 2018 and went to work for Curium, the world's larges provider of nuclear medicine, where she oversees the capital budget for North America. 

Sarah received her MBA from Webster University, in 1994, and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Missouri.  She has been very active in the local section of AIChE for many years.  For more than 20 years, she has participated in the Math/Science Network of Greater St. Louis’ Expanding Your Horizons Conference which is designed to get young women interested in math and science and non-traditional occupations.  She has been an active member of the Corporate Development Council at MS&T since 2002. She has two sons, is active in Southminster Presbyterian Church, enjoys hiking in our National Parks, and likes to swim, cycle, and rollerblade.  Sarah and her family reside in St. Louis, Missouri. Sarah was inducted into the Academy in 2013.
