Paul began his chemical engineering career with the Columbia-Southern Chemical Corporation, where he had assignments to various plant oriented projects while also completing a stint with the U.S. Army (1957-59). In 1965, Columbia-Southern was absorbed into PPG Industries. Paul remained with PPG until his retirement in 1999. Paul's longtime supervisory career with PPG began as a Production Department Superintendent. He was then promoted to Area Production Superintendent, where he was responsible for several production departments with total gross assets of $14-16 million. Paul was temporarily assigned as Shift Superintendent during the startup of an overseas plant site. He later became Area Superintendent of Special Studies in 1972, responsible for analyzing and evaluating various projects relating to plant operations. From 1973-1978, he was Superintendent of Auxiliary Services and was promoted to Senior Process Engineer in 1978, where he performed economic evaluation of engineering and capital improvement projects. Paul became Senior Operations Engineer in 1982 and then Manager of Operational Services from 1997 until retirement. Paul and his wife Barbara reside in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Paul was inducted into the Academy in 2001.
