In 1973, Bob joined the Research and Development staff at Phillips Corporate Technology as a research engineer in the Hydrocarbon Processes Branch. He has had a number of assignments in Phillips’ downstream organizations - research and development engineer, Downstream Planning and Budgeting analyst, process engineering at the Kansas City refinery and various supervision and management positions in R&D. He retired in 2004 as Manager of Refinery Processes and Products, where he was responsible for all refining research, development, and product technical support. He has authored and co-authored many technical papers and presentations, including several made for classes at MS&T. Bob was a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the American Chemical Society, and the Society of Automotive Engineers. He served as a Phillips’ representative to committees of the American Petroleum Institute, the Petroleum Environmental Research Foundation, the Coordinating Research Council, and the Auto/Oil Air Quality Improvement Research Program. At MS&T, Bob recruited for Phillips for many years and enjoys participating in campus and alumni activities. He has served on and chaired the Engineering Advisory Council for the Chemical and Biological Engineering Department, served on the Board of Directors of the ChBE Academy, served on and chaired the Provost’s Engineering Advisory Board, served on the College of Engineering and Computing Advisory Board and currently serves on the CEC Strategic Advisory Council. Bob and his wife Ginny have been active members of OGS since 1997 and reside in North Richland Hills, Texas, a suburb in the DFW metroplex. Bob was inducted into the Academy in 1997.
