Joe has been with St. Louis based Nooter companies since graduating from Rolla. Until last December, Joe was Senior Vice President of Engineering with Nooter Eriksen. Nooter Eriksen is the world’s largest supplier of heat recovery steam generators behind gas turbines for power generation. He was in charge of various groups at Nooter Eriksen which include Structural Design, Instrumentation and Controls, Drafting, Product Testing and Development, R&D and Information Systems. Joe has driven change through the organization for cost savings, product and cycle time improvements. He is a hands-on type person and is still directly involved with major technical issues. His current role is now a part time employee of Nooter Eriksen still involved with technical issues and with the assessment and development of new products and business ventures. He is also currently doing consulting work for a couple different research organizations.
Joe is currently the Chair of ASME PTC 4.4 on Performance Testing of HRSG’s. He is on the Board of Directors of Heat Transfer Research Inc (HTRI) which is a research cooperative mainly for the chemical and petroleum industries. He also served as a member or as chair of HTRI’s Technical Committee which directs the company research. Joe is on the ASME Industrial Advisory Board, ASME Water Technology Committee, ASME Power Plant and Environmental Chemistry Committee and the ASME Combined Cycle Committee. He is a member of AICHE, ASME and ASHRAE. Joe speaks regularly at various Users’ Group meetings, has published various technical papers and has several patents.
Joe has a BS and MS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla and a MBA from Washington University in St. Louis. He received a Young Man of the Year award in 1984 for community involvement. He is 58 years old and has been married for 37 years. His wife Nancy is a retired kindergarten teacher. He jogs 20 miles a week and sucks at golf. Joe was inducted into the Academy in 2013.
