Ken joined Monsanto in 1964 as an Engineer with the former Inorganic Division Engineering Department. He became a Senior Sales Representative for the Inorganic Division in St. Louis in 1970, and began his long involvement in various capacities with the company's detergents and phosphates businesses. In 1971, he was appointed Product Supervisor of Antibacterials and in 1973, Product Supervisor of Surfactant Intermediates. Ken was transferred to Cincinnati, where he became Area Sales Manager in 1974 and Regional Sales Manager in 1975, managing Monsanto's then largest customer. He returned to St. Louis in 1977 and was appointed Manager of Commercial Development, and he was named Commercial Director of NTA in 1980. In 1983, he became Business Director of Phosphorus and Phosphate Products with the former Detergent Materials Unit of Monsanto Industrial Chemicals Company, and in 1986, he was named Planning Director for the Detergents & Phosphates Division. Ken was appointed Director of Operations in 1991 and assumed the position as Director of Supply Chain for Performance Materials in 1996. He retired after a 34-year career with Monsanto on December 31, 1997. Since then, Ken has been engaged as an industry consultant to the global phosphorus and phosphate products industry, with clients in North America, Latin America, China and Europe/Africa/Mid-East. In 1998, he formed Wulfert Consulting Limited, a Missouri LLC, to facilitate his consulting practice. Since 2000, Ken also has a relationship with Moneta Group, a financial services firm in Clayton, Missouri. Ken's memberships include AIChE, Alpha Chi Sigma, Tau Beta Pi and Phi Kappa Phi. Ken is married to the former Caroline L. Kunz of Webster Groves, Missouri, and they reside in St. Louis, Missouri. They have one son, Kurt, who resides with his wife and two daughters in Olathe, Kansas. He was inducted into the Academy in 1997.
