FARHAD ADIB

Senior Material Development Engineer
Freudenberg-NOK
Santa Ana, California
BS ChE ’84, Missouri University of Science & Technology
MS ChE ’85, Missouri University of Science & Technology
PhD ChE, ’91, Missouri University of Science & Technology

Farhad received a BS degree in Chemical Engineering in 1984 and an MS degree in Chemical Engineering in 1985 from the Missouri University of Science and Technology.  In 1988, he accepted a position at BASF Corporation as an Applications Engineer where he characterized the rheological properties of automotive paint for better impact resistance properties, optimized spraying equipment for improved paint applications on car bodies, and successfully implemented the first generation of water born paint in Saturn vehicles.

Farhad received his PhD in 1991 from the Missouri University of Science and Technology Chemical Engineering Department.  In 1994, he accepted a position with Bourns, Inc. in Riverside, California where he was a materials/polymer engineer.  He was the team leader for the development/delivery of conductive polymer (CP) ink systems (resistor, conductor and dielectric), epoxy formulation and lube making.  In 2013, he accepted a position with Bel Power Solutions & Protection in San Jose, California where he was a senior materials and process technologist.  He reduced processing time by 65% by developing and deploying methodologies for identifying the critical parameters for the major steps in the PCBA and Power Supply system assembly process and manufacturing cost by 30% and increased yield by 80% developing and deploying methodologies that used statistical process control data to refine maintenance intervals at plants in China, Slovakia, and Malaysia.

In 2016, he accepted a position at Britt Manufacturing Company in Port Huron, Michigan where he was a feedstock process engineer.  He improved product quality by 50 % by studying the rheology of the MIM (Metal Injection Molding) binders for improving mixing and dispersion during compounding process.  In 2017, he accepted a position with Freudenberg-NOK in Santa Ana, California where he is a senior material development engineer.  He leads the development of materials to meet the customer requirements for the O-Ring Industry (Aerospace specifically).  He is responsible for material selection for RFQ/Specifications; working closely with the Product Marketing and Commercial Team. Performs benchmark testing of competitor’s materials; participates in evaluation of material suppliers, audits, selection or replacement of raw materials; creates longer term supplier strategy plan for the division and supports the full supply chain process to increase productivity and reducing costs.
