David began his career in the R&D Department of Conoco Chemicals. He retired as a Research Associate with Sasol North America in 2012. He has continued to be active in the chemical industry as a consultant.

Technology implementation and process improvement were primary focus areas for his career with special expertise in mixing, statistical analysis of process data, new product development and scaleup from laboratory data. David led teams, both domestically and internationally, whose focus was rapid integration of research advances into commercial production. He is an expert in alumina and its use in myriad applications such as catalysts, ceramics and consumer products. He is a co-inventor or inventor on six US Patents.
