During his 21 years with Johnson & Johnson Medical, Joe has held the positions of Research Engineer, Senior Project Engineer, Senior Project Scientist, Principal Engineer, Director of Product Development and is currently Director of Technology. He holds 24 patents in the area of innovative hypodermic needles and intravenous catheters that prevent both re-use and accidental needle stick injuries. Prior to Johnson & Johnson, Joe was a member of the research staff at Western Electric - AT&T Bell Labs in Princeton, New Jersey. While a graduate student at UMR, he was a Research Assistant and later a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Materials Research Center, where he worked closely with his mentor Dr. Jim Johnson. Joe and his wife Susie joined OGS in 1995, and they reside in Southington, Texas. Joe was inducted into the Academy in 1996.
