Jason McHaney

BS ChE'91, Missouri University of Science & Technology

Jason McHaney is an accomplished process safety and chemical engineering professional with more than three decades of experience in industrial manufacturing and regulatory compliance. Jason began his career at The Ensign-Bickford Company as a production supervisor, after which he joined Arkema.

Today, he serves as Senior Process Safety Engineer, where he leads efforts to ensure compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and EPA Risk Management Program (RMP) requirements. His work includes conducting and revalidating process hazard analyses, managing facility-wide management of change programs, and supporting regulatory inspections, audits, and major capital projects. Over the course of his career at Arkema, Jason has held a progression of engineering and operational leadership roles, contributing to facility startups, process design, operator training, and production support across multiple chemical processes. Recognized for his deep technical expertise and commitment to safety, Jason has built a career defined by operational excellence and the advancement of process safety in complex manufacturing environments.

Jason has been extremely active and supportive of the ChBE Department. He served on the Industrial Advisory Council for 5 years. He was instrumental in developing, implementing, and teaching two courses, Hazardous Material Management and Process Safety in the Chemical and Biochemical Industries. He is active in the Miner Alumni Assoc. He lives with his wife, Kathy, and their two sons in Paducah, KY. Jason earned his BS ChE from the University of MO – Rolla in 1991.
