David began his career with Procter & Gamble in 1971 where he was in brand management in the Food Division.  Here he developed and managed exploratory to nationally, recognized consumer food brands, i.e. Jif Peanut Butter, Pringle’s, and Duncan Hines Cake Mixes. He developed and launched nationally, the Jif Extra Crunchy line extension, the Pringle’s Extra line extension, and the Duncan Hines Deluxe II total line improvement; he also conceptualized and developed new product lines in the frosting and snack arenas.

In 1978, he accepted a position for Holiday Inns, Inc. where he held the positions of director, new business development – evaluating and developing ventures, director of strategic planning task force – developing the first 5 and 10 year strategic growth plan for the $4.5 billion corporation, director of facilities planning and development – developing the corporate vehicle to get the correct market aligned hotels in the ground faster, and then director of marketing for the Product Services Division – achieving a division turnaround of the $120 million business.

In 1981, David accepted a position with Ralston Purina as a director of acquisitions/special projects in the diversified business division – analyzing and negotiating two potential acquisitions and undertaking divestiture/realignment actions in the four divisions within the business group.  He advanced to director of market planning and communications then director of marketing worldwide for the Protein Technologies International company– moving sales from $70 to $250 million, expanding worldwide penetration into 43 countries, directing new product development, and expanding business-to-business market segments.

In 1987, he initiated Neuwirth Consulting Group Inc., with consulting to both the corporate consumer product and business-to-business arenas, with focus mainly into the Food, Nutraceutical, and Agri-business arenas.  Consulting specialized in strategic planning/positioning, strategic marketing, and product/market/business development. Consulting was/is both domestic and international with corporations ranging from small to multi-national. Client experiences have included heading tasks forces to set corporate direction, leading corporate growth efforts, addressing business effectiveness, effecting business turnarounds, evaluating/initiating appropriate technologies/acquisitions/ partnerships, and identifying, launching, and direction of products/markets/businesses worldwide.

In 2008, David accepted a position with Novus International in St. Louis, Missouri where was executive director and was responsible for the creation, development, leadership and P&L of a new business division – Novus Nutrition Brands, LLC.  He originated, grew and took globally three new businesses into the human, pet food, and companion animal nutrition and health areas.

In 2013, he has resumed consulting and direction in the Neuwirth Consulting Group Inc.

David and his wife Patrice reside O’Fallon, Missouri.
