Eric joined the United States Army, Corps of Engineers upon graduation in 1968 and was on active duty until 1972. In 1973, Eric went to work for PPG Industries serving in various production management positions in flat glass coating and fabrication. In 1978, Eric joined Cardinal Glass Industries where he was actively involved in senior management serving as the corporation's Vice President, a member of the board of directors, and has maintained a significant ownership position. Since 1978, Cardinal has transformed from a small regional flat glass fabricator (insulating glass) with less than 300 employees and ten million dollars annually in sales to a national producer of float glass, low emissivity coated glass and insulating glass with nearly 5,000 employees and sales of over one billion dollars annually.

During this period, Eric was actively involved in industry associations including SIGMA (Sealed Insulating Glass Manufacturers Association) and the National Window and Door Association. Eric has served in various leadership roles in SIGMA, including president and served on the NWDA Board of Directors. He left Cardinal in early 2006. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Peoples Community Bankand is currently a board member of MR/BK, LLC, a development company. Eric and his wife Irene reside in Spring Green, Wisconsin. Eric was inducted in the Academy in 2002.
