Jerry enjoyed a 38+ year career as an executive with the DuPont Company, holding numerous leadership positions in key businesses, including: Industrial Finishes, Medical Instruments, Magnetic Products, Agricultural Chemicals and Specialty Chemicals.  Leadership positions included: Vice-President, DuPont Asia-Pacific & Director, Agricultural Products - Asia-Pacific & Latin America.  During much of the second half of his career, he had responsibility for international businesses and spent about 100 days a year outside the United States.  Jerry had the privilege of working in many of the more interesting and exotic parts of the world and participated in a period of unprecedented global business growth. Noteworthy accomplishments were: becoming the leading basic supplier of agrichemicals in Japan, a rare achievement for a foreign-based company, establishing the first integrated agrichemicals joint venture by a multinational company in the People’s Republic of China; creating successful joint ventures in Argentina and Central America,  becoming agrichemicals market share leader in both areas; and, leading one of DuPont’s most successful business units for almost a decade, growing revenue at a 15% annual rate, while earnings grew more than 9X.

Jerry was the recipient of the 1991 GIFAP AWARD for outstanding contribution to the international agrichemicals industry. He served on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Synthetic Organic Chemical Manufacturers Association, as Chairman of the Regional Steering Committee and the Latin America Working Group of the International Group of Associations of Agrichemical Manufacturers (GIFAP), and as Chairman, International Affairs Committee of the National Agricultural Chemicals Association.

Jerry and his wife Evelyn reside in Wilmington, Delaware and Bluffton, South Carolina. Jerry was inducted into the Academy in 2011.
