Fred is an author and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Singulex, Inc., a diagnostics company involved in the development of instruments and tests for ultra-sensitive detection of illnesses and disease. He retired from Tetra Technologies, Inc. where he had been responsible for worldwide management of specialty chemicals.  Prior to Tetra, he worked for Mallinckrodt Group, Inc. of St. Louis, Missouri where he rose to the position of President of Mallinckrodt Baker, Inc.  He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Laboratory Products Association and was active civically with the St. Louis Science Center. Fred has trained extensively in martial arts and teaches women's self-defense classes.  He recently authored See Sally Kick Ass: A Woman's Guide to Personal Safety. More information about the book is available at www.seesallykickass.com.    Fred enjoys his family, grandchildren and a variety of other hobbies. Fred and his wife Sue became OGS members in 2001 and reside in The Woodlands, Texas. Fred was inducted into the Academy in 1996.
